a place to call home.

For those of you who have spent years living with roommates, you understand the luxury that is living on your own. I moved into my first apartment after I graduated university. It was a world-wind of a summer: finishing grad school, moving to a new city, and starting a new job; getting a place of my own was just the brink of the excitement. I've been in my one-bedroom for over a year now and have fallen in love with interior styling my new-found space.

I suppose I ought to introduce myself before anything else. By simple measure, my name is Sloane and I'm an editor by day and a self-professed wine lover by evening. My love of writing sparked in university where I studied International Development and Political Science, and then Public Policy later in graduate school. (My love of wine sparked a little while later, but nonetheless is very much a passionate facet of my life.)

My apartment is a complete remodel; it is a restored Victorian home with all new flooring and finishings. Living in the city, I wanted to incorporate my small-town roots. My living area is inspired by modern-farmhouse living. The cow-hide rug and the antique door make all the difference. The green chair is also antique and allowed me to play with colours. The coffee table was a recent edition. I didn't think my coffee table requirements were that demanding, but as it turns out ladies and gents, finding a circle-glass-small-metallic coffee table is by no means a small feat. But alas, here it is in all its beauty.

Above all else - and yes, that means wine too - I love to write (you should see my Notes on my iPhone, oh boy.) Combining my hobby for decorating and writing felt only natural. Join me on my journey, friends!
